Specialist Expertise

Julie has specialist expertise working with children and families who have experienced trauma.  She gained this experience whilst working as a psychologist for specialist services addressing physical, sexual and emotional abuse in children.  Julie has also worked as a school psychologist helping children address home and school concerns.  Julie has experience in conducting educational assessments and providing useful strategies to assist children to achieve their potential in the classroom.

Evidence Based Practise

Julie has experience in conducting educational assessments and providing useful strategies to assist children to achieve their potential in the classroom. In addition to using evidence based practices, such as cognitive behavioural therapy, Julie uses a number of other therapeutic techniques from her ‘bag of tricks’ to help engage children in the counselling process and get the best outcomes for children and their families.

A Patient Listener

Apart from being a children’s counsellor, Julie is a mother, aunty, expert lego builder, a patient listener to detailed minecraft explanations and she can sing along to Frozen’s Let it Go.  She finds it immensely rewarding to help children overcome challenges and difficulties in their lives and watch their self-confidence grow.
